Local electrical company gives back with food drive

Bartlett, TN (PRWEB) February 23, 2009 -- Above and Beyond Electric announced the beginning of a food drive for the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) to help those in need.

Beginning this week, Above and Beyond is offering $25 off any service call in exchange for five cans of food or other non-perishable food items. The company's technicians will pick up the food from their customers while on call and deliver it to MIFA. The food drive will continue until May 1. In addition, Above and Beyond's staff has begun volunteering each month to help deliver Meals on Wheels for the social service organization.

"We feel it is important to give back to our community," said Nathan Harmeier, president of Above and Beyond. "And in these tough economic times, it is especially critical. We started the food drive so our customers can participate, as well. Even a small donation can make a difference."

Items most needed by MIFA include: canned meat: Spam, ham, meat-spread, beef stew, chicken; canned fish: tuna, salmon, sardines; milk group: evaporated milk, canned cheese, powdered milk, pudding, custard; canned fruit: citrus sections, oranges, pineapple, applesauce, apricots; canned juices: tomato, orange, pineapple, grape; canned vegetables; canned soups; dried fruits: raisins, apricots, prunes; breads and cereals: baking mix, muffin mix, dry cereal, oatmeal, grits, rice cakes, spaghetti, cornmeal mix; other items: macaroni and cheese; spaghetti sauce, boxed juice, peanut butter, canned nuts, jams, jellies, ketchup, mustard, sugar and flour.
