MIFA launches clergy roundtable discussions
(November 6, 2009) - MIFA is scheduling a series of public meetings across the city to introduce clergy and other congregational staff to what its Emergency Services program has to offer churches – especially during this time of heightened economic need.
The first Clergy Roundtable is slated for Nov. 12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Christ Missionary Baptist Church, 494 S. Parkway E. Other meetings will follow throughout the next six months.
The meetings coincide with the unveiling of MIFA’s newly published Congregational Resource Guide, a 14-page booklet with information on how MIFA can help churches, synagogues and other faith communities, who are not always equipped to handle requests for specific emergency needs.
Margaret Craddock, MIFA executive director, and Phyllis Phillips, Emergency Services director, will discuss MIFA’s services, eligibility requirements, and procedures. Representatives from MLGW and the Shelby County Community Services Agency will also share information about their community programs.
Roundtable participants will receive complimentary copies of the
Congregational Resource Guide.
