Emergency Services
Eligibility Requirements
The applicant must document a
temporary, unavoidable loss of income, such as an unpaid absence due to
illness, a drastic reduction in pay (from $40/hr to $20/hr), a job
lay-off, or a crisis such as a house fire.
The household must not have received assistance from MIFA within the previous two years.
The loss or crisis must have occurred within the previous 90 days.
In
most cases, MIFA cannot pay an entire bill; each recipient is
responsible for paying or making arrangements on the remainder of
his/her balance.
