MIFA Housing Opportunities/Life Skills
Eligibility requirements
Clients go through a comprehensive screening process before acceptance. We are almost always at capacity – in August of 2008, 151 families sought acceptance to MHO, and only eight were accepted.
In addition to attending classes, residents are required to seek employment, pay down debt, save money, and set goals for progress. While they remain in MIFA housing, guns, drugs, alcohol, and overnight guests are prohibited, and families are provided with case management, health care, counseling, and childcare. When they complete all the program’s requirements, they leave with furniture, savings, housing, and employment.
