Volunteer Ombudsman training
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day
MIFA, 910 Vance Avenue
Advocate for the rights of nursing home residents in Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, and Lauderdale counties through MIFA's Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. After a 12-hour training and certification, you will visit an assigned nursing home once a week and help to promote good care and resident rights. Christmas Day MIFA Meals Delivery

Deliver Meals on Christmas Day! This is a great time to share the
spirit of service with friends and family as you deliver meals and gift

Day of Reflection and Service

Each year, MIFA holds its Day of Reflection and Service celebration, sponsored by ServiceMASTER,
to honor its staff, volunteers, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. The event's keynote address is presented by the winner of MIFA's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest, which is open to area teens. The service is followed by a MIFA Meals delivery and other volunteer projects. Also during DRS MIFA will hold its community fast, MIFAST.
